About us

Stonecott Fine Writing Supplies Ltd was founded in Bristol, UK, in 2019 by Derek Bambrough, with a mission to sell fountain pens and quality writing accessories online in the UK and potentially worldwide. Derek’s initial thoughts were to offer the UK fountain pen enthusiast something that was not yet available on the UK market, hence BENU pens being our main launch products.

Company Registered Address: Stonecott Fine Writing Supplies Ltd, 339 Champs Sur Marne, Bradley Stoke, Bristol, BS32 9BZ

The company is registered as a limited company in England.

Derek comes from a background of public service, working in the Ministry of Defence for over 22 years before leaving in November 2018. During the last 11 years of his time with the MOD Derek was a Commercial Officer negotiating and amending contracts for the purchase of goods and services for the Armed Forces. It was while he was serving as a Commercial Officer that Derek gained his MCIPS qualification and became a Member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS), a membership he continues to hold today. In fact Derek became a Chartered member of CIPS in 2019. To find out more about CIPS click on the link below:

During his last three years with the MOD Derek developed an interest in fountain pens, which quickly became a passion. So naturally, upon leaving the MOD, the first thing Derek thought about was setting up an online shop for fountain pens and ink.

Derek made the decision to start small, with just a handful of suppliers, who were chosen strategically to try and carve a niche within the market.

We are the first seller of BENU fountain pens in the UK, with a close working relationship with the manufacturer. We are also one of only a handful of UK sellers to stock ink from Krishna.

Rounding out the inventory at launch were stunning notebooks from Dingbats and the full glorious range of Diamine Shimmertastic inks.

In 2020 we added some artisan pen makers to our roster of suppliers. Tailored Pen Company from Kentucky, USA was the first with the addition of the Trillion model. Then came Butterknife Creations from Ontario, Canada, with some unique colours of their Chameleon model. We also became a stockist for Beaufort Inks during 2020.

The final addition in 2020 was Venvstas, artisan pen makers from Italy, and their unique linear carbon fibre offerings. Latterly we also began stocking the new range of inks from Venvstas, and are planning to stock their notebooks in mid-2021 as well.

We also stocked Narwhal fountain pens between late 2019 and late 2021 but have since discontinued stocking these popular pens to concentrate on our core brands
